EippionCell® MHEC LH 6150M methyl hydroxyethyl cellulose is a water-soluble cellulose ether that can also dissolve in certain organic solvents. It exhibits excellent solubility in cold water, with the maximum concentration determined by its viscosity. The solubility characteristics of MHEC vary with viscosity, where lower viscosity grades have higher solubility. As non-ionic cellulose ethers, MHEC products are relatively stable in aqueous solutions containing metal salts or organic electrolytes. However, excessive amounts of electrolytes can lead to gelation and precipitation. The aqueous solutions of MHEC possess surface-active properties, enabling their use as colloidal protective agents, emulsifiers, and dispersants. When heated to a specific temperature, the aqueous solution of MHEC products turns opaque, forms a gel, and precipitates. However, upon continuous cooling, the solution regains its original state. The gelation and precipitation temperature primarily depend on the lubricating agent, suspending agent, protective colloid, emulsifier, etc. present in the solution.
